When a bicyclist is hit by an uninsured driver

On Behalf of | Dec 12, 2019 | Uninsured/Underinsured Auto Insurance Claims | 0 comments

When bicyclists are involved in traffic accidents, the impact can be especially devastating for a host of reasons. Aside from the major concerns associated with an impact, such as the loss of life and major injuries, bicyclists may encounter other hardships in the wake of the collision, such as those which are financial in nature. Even when a driver has insurance coverage that helps a bicyclist recover, they may have a hard time pursuing these benefits and recovering in terms of their finances. In some accidents, a driver may not have any insurance at all, leaving a bicyclist worried about his or her finances in many ways.

Fortunately, some bicyclists are able to secure benefits even though the driver who caused the accident did not have insurance. For example, some bicyclists are covered through their own auto insurance policy and they are able to file a claim with their insurance company to secure help with medical costs, lost wages and other financial burdens brought on by the accident. This is not possible for every injured bicyclist, so no guarantees can be made, but it is imperative for bicyclists in this position to review their insurance policy and determine whether or not they may be eligible for benefits from their insurance company in such a situation.

If you believe that your insurance company may help you recover after being hit by an uninsured driver, do not hesitate to explore the steps that will have to be taken to obtain these funds. Our law office knows how tough it can be to deal with an insurance company after an accident.
