Holding insurance companies accountable for their promises

At our law offices here in Austin, we are proud to be part of the team supporting Jon Michael Smith in providing representation for people who are struggling with insurance companies’ failures. Our goal with our clients from across central Texas and beyond is to guide them efficiently and compassionately through complex, frustrating appeals and trial processes.

Big insurance companies do not scare us away. When we take a case — regardless of the size of our opponents — we represent the interests of our clients patiently and tenaciously, always with an eye towards obtaining the compensation necessary to deal with disabilities and maintain reasonable standards of living.

One of the problems we often see is rooted in the fact that long-term disability is often a major expense for insurers. Some companies are ethical and responsible to the needs of their clients. Other insurance providers overextend themselves and therefore make it a point to stall benefits payouts — or stop them altogether. These bad-faith and potentially fraudulent practices may be excellent for the bottom line of the offenders, but they are terrible for the health of our clients.

Your denial does not have to be the end of the road. We have seen cases in which a client was nearly certain that the provider would uphold a claim’s denial, only to discover that, upon an internal review, somebody within the insurance company had made a mistake. While it may surprise you, this is far from uncommon. However, you would probably want to make sure to carefully review the details of any appeal you make, as it is often the last chance you have to contest a denial before the matter goes to court.

We are proud of the lives we have improved. We look forward to continuing to keep the insurance industry in central Texas honest and keeping our clients healthy. Please continue on our main site for more information.
